CMI churchgoers told not to attend masses elsewhere- Archbishop

KOTA KINABALU: The Archdiocese of Kota Kinabalu advices members of catholic community from Church of Mary Immaculate (CMI) at Bukit Padang here not to attend masses at other churches.

The Archbishop Rev John Wong said that he endorsed CMI rector Fr Paul Lo’s decision on suspending masses for two weeks from Aug 5 following one of its parishioners is tested positive for Covid-19 on Aug 4.

“We need to give priority to the health of all church goers.

“For extra precautions, I would like to advise those who have attended mass at CMI on 19th and 26th July not to attend in other churches in the next two weeks. Please stay at home and follow the live streaming masses instead.

“I apologise for the inconveniences you have to go through. Let us pray that it is only an isolated case and we can resume mass at CMI again after two weeks. “

Meanwhile, www.heraldmalaysia.com has reported that CMI is assisting the authority in tracking the contacts of 250 attendees for those two masses. More than 40 frontliners are likely to be called for screening.
