KOTA KINBALU: A local based social entreprise in Sabah will be using used plastic bottles for renewable energy.
Penampang-based Tonibung executive director Adrian Banie Lasimbang said that the organisation has been focusing on renewable energy such as micro hydro , solared power and biomass to generate electricity.
Tonibung is collaborating with Future Alam Borneo and Sea Monkey for the mission to provide affordable electircity at rural communities in Malaysia among indigenous community.
“Tonibung is committed with the United Nations Sustainable Goal especially the number 7 which is clean energy.
“We are trying to see what are the ways to provide solution turbine at affordable price,” he said during a recent Blu Hope webinar in conjunction with the Commonwealth Day.

Adrian added that they have made turbines from recycled aluminium and plastic bottles.
He said the mission would include six villages- two for Orang Asli community in peninsular, four in Sabah and another one is in Sarawak.
