KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is aiming to increase skilled people in transportation services in the oil and gas industry.

Such aspiration is to be fulfilled following the signing of Memorandum of Understanding between Layang Layang Aerospace Group and Silver Kris Sdn Bhd for for Specialised Oil and Gas Training Sevices.

Silver Kris Sdn Bhd chairman Datuk Ismail Abdullah said the collaboration is in line with the Government’s aspiration to build capabilities and capacity in the oil and gas and aviation industry. 

“The collaboration with Layang Layang Aerospace group which provide helicopter logistic services, maintenance services and a helicopter training academy in Sabah.

“It will aim to increase skilled personnel in helicopter transportation service in the oil and gas industry,” he said in a statement.

Silver Kris through its affiliates TAS Institute of Oil and Gas and SEQU-TAS Offshore Safety Sdn Bhd is involved in training of operations technicians and safety training for the oil and gas industry.

Layang Layang Aerospace managing director Johan Phoong Abdullah said safety is of paramount importance in the aviation and oil and gas industry.

“Therefore, we planned to train not only as pilots but also as Helicopter Landing Officers, Helideck Assistants, Helideck Radio Operators, etc to provide a safe working environment both offshore and onshore.”
