KOTA KINABALU: An infectious specialist warned people of Sabah to avoid going out for the next coming weeks.
Dr Timothy William said Covid-19 is an unmerciful enemy that might kill anyone.
As of yesterday, the full vaccination rate of the total population was only 15.3 per cent. The target herd immunity is above 70 per cent.
“We are facing an unprecedented human tragic disaster in the next coming weeks in Sabah.
“Our people are the least vaccinated in the country. Our healthcare system will be totally overwhelmed.
“Please stay home for the next eight weeks until you are fully vaccinated,” he said, adding the same to those who had received two doses of Covid-19.
Dr Timothy added in the case of unavoidable to leave home for work, buy goods or medical treatment, he said people should wear masks and maintain physical distance.
Sabah recorded another day of four-digit Covid-19 cases today whereby 915 of the 1,655 total cases are close contacts.
There are three new clusters-Tangkuyan, in Kinabatangan; Paka Kawiyan, in Ranau; and Segama Batu 1 in Lahad Datu.
