Sabah’s cashless adoption exceeded national average.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans are ahead in eWallet adoption compared to the Klang Valley, said Boost BIZ chief executive officer Eric Chong.

“From the start of last year, when the world became aware of the Covid-19 threat, up until today, Boost’s userbase has grown by 75% to a total of 9.4 million users. Our merchant base also grew in
the same period by 64% to over 375,000.

“But I’m happy to emphasise that in Sabah particularly…this is the home of our most active merchant base.

“According to our user and merchant data, comparing 1H2021 to 1H2020, Sabah’s cashless adoption and use exceeds the national average.”

Chong added the monthly average GTV of 12 month period from August 2020 – July 2021,
Sabah ranks the highest GTV with 2.6x compared to Selangor, which is the second highest state.

During the 6 month period from November 2020 – April 2021, the number of transactions exceeded nationwide growth rate by 2 times.

“Average weekly gross transaction value per user (GTV/user) for Sabah grew 16% since last year. The average spend per user in Sabah has maintained higher than the nationwide average since
we started Boost in 2017.

“Weekly active merchant growth exceeded nationwide by 2.2 times”
