As Sandakan is hosting its first pastry competion, it is hoped that more big pastry creation can be discovered among the local community.
First launched at the Sandakan Food & Agriculture Festival in 2019, the Sandakan Pastry Competition will now become an annual event to encourage professional and amateur pastry chefs to showcase their ideas.

Inspired by the unique UFO tart that was created in the 50s by a local pastry maker, the organisers hope fellow Sandakan people will use this annual platform to present their creations for consideration as Sandakan’s next pastry star.
The top 4 entries will get widespread publicity for their work, and the public demand will undoubtedly skyrocket for their pastries.
As the clock counts down to the judging date, the opportunity to present any new innovations and creations in pastry making is still open, and the organisers are eager to have as many entries participate as possible so that the panel of judges will have their palates put to the test.
Registration for and participation in the competition is free.
The Pastry competition is supported by Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan and organised by Taste Sabah sdn bhd with its partners Artlex Centre, Balin Rooftop Bistro, The Marketplace and Meinga Bakery.
The competition offers over RM1500 in cash and prizes.
Sign up here before June 12.
