Sabah first coding school academy to boost education and training through collaboration.

KOTA KINABALU: Elevate Academy of Technology & Innovation (Elevate), the first coding school in Sabah, has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with SIDMA College Sabah and KKIP Aerospace Training Centre (KATC) to provide top-notch training and development solutions in emerging technologies.

Elevate signed the MOUs during its Raya celebration event, which took place on May 9th, 2023, at Raia Hotel, Kota Kinabalu. The event was attended by various industry stakeholders, representatives from agencies under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sabah (KSTI), and other state government agencies. Puan Alijah Ismail, Deputy Permanent Secretary II, Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sabah (KSTI), graced the event.

Through the MOU with SIDMA College Sabah, Elevate Academy will collaborate with the college to offer joint digital and technology related programmes. The partnership aims to provide students with industry-relevant skills and knowledge that will enhance their employability and career prospects. Dr Mornie Kambrie, Chairman of SIDMA College Sabah, expressed excitement about partnering with Elevate Academy to offer students practical, hands-on training in emerging technologies.

The MOU with KATC will see Elevate Academy providing technical training and development courses for aerospace professionals. Elevate Academy’s expertise in delivering practical, hands-on software engineering solutions will enable KATC to enhance the skills and knowledge of its workforce, thereby improving the quality of services provided to clients. Tuan Aminuddin Zakaria, CEO of KKIP Aerospace Training Centre, expressed enthusiasm about working with Elevate Academy to provide employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to stay competitive in the aerospace industry.

Elevate Academy’s Executive Director, Ms. Faezrah Rizalman, emphasised the company’s mission as a Sabahan purpose-driven company to reduce brain drain and increase economic growth in the state. Elevate Academy aims to train and nurture people in technology and innovation and provide them with opportunities for high-paying careers, attracting more technology companies to be based in Sabah by providing high-impact technology courses. Faezrah believes that this will not only attract local youth to learn and embrace emerging technologies at local educational

and training institutions but also international students to come to Sabah, creating new niches for edutourism.

In the event, Faezrah announced an Income Share Agreement (ISA) payment scheme, a form of deferred payment plan known as “study now, pay later,” for all high-potential underprivileged students. The scheme aims to ensure no student is left behind and has an equal opportunity to study technology, obtain high-paying jobs, and improve their livelihood. The ISA scheme will be offered to students accepted into Elevate’s next flagship course, Full Stack Software Development (FSSD), scheduled to begin in July 2023.
