PENAMPANG: Unduk Ngadau 2023 committee will wear traditional attire of Dusun Sandayoh during the Kaamatan celebration this year.
“The attire I am wearing is handcrafted from Paitan.
“I love this attire because it is beautifully adorned with a headscarf and hand-stitched floral embroidery, not done by a machine,” said Joanna Kitingan, who is the Chairperson of the Unduk Ngadau Committee of Sabah.
During an interview at the Kadazan Dusun Cultural Association (KDCA) here,
She added that it is hoped that more people will wear this traditional attire in the future.
By doing so communities, especially the present generation, can recognise and appreciate the existence of this attire.
“Hopefully, with this effort, it will also help boost the economy of Sandayoh women when there is a demand for this attire in the future,” she said.
The Unduk Ngadau competition is held in conjunction with the Kaamatan celebration, which will take place from 30th to 31st May at KDCA.
