Carlsberg Malaysia commits to environment, education and entertainment industry

SHAH ALAM: The renowned Top Ten Charity Campaign (Top Ten), organized and sponsored by Carlsberg Malaysia, is making a remarkable comeback after three-year of hiatus.

The campaign promotes quality education and climate action in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG).

This year, Top Ten focuses on inclusivity and sustainability while raising funds for educational institutions and raising awareness about climate change among teachers and students.

This year’s campaign, titled ‘Brewing For a Better Today & Tomorrow,’ has reached new heights and expanded its inclusivity by extending its reach to East Malaysia.

Collaborating with 10 vernacular schools, Top Ten sponsors the production, operation, and promotion of charity road shows. So far, they have successfully raised RM10.66 million of the RM15 million target over a three-month period.

Since 1987, Top Ten has been a cornerstone in the development of vernacular education in Malaysia, supporting school infrastructure upgrades, educational assets, and programs.

Over the past 33 years, this initiative has raised an impressive RM547 million, benefiting a total of 674 schools across the country, highlighting Carlsberg’s unwavering commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4: Quality Education.

Carlsberg commits deliver net-zero carbon emissions by 2040

In its pursuit of sustainability, Carlsberg Malaysia has partnered with Zero Waste Malaysia (ZWM), the nation’s largest environmental community, to promote sustainability education among the youth. The partnership aligns with UNSDG 13: Climate Action and includes climate change and waste segregation talks at beneficiary schools, empowering the next generation with the knowledge to shape a greener, more sustainable world.

Carlsberg Malaysia managing director Stefano Clini said the company pledges to deliver net-zero carbon emissions throughout our value chain by 2040.

“We believe that education on climate change should start young to inculcate the mindset and habits of sustainability.

“Hence, Top Ten partnered with an NGO – Zero Waste Malaysia to empower the next generation with knowledge to craft a greener, more sustainable world.”

Carlsberg also promotes local talents in entertainment industry

In addition to serving as a fundraising platform for local education advancement, Top Ten is also a platform for promoting local talent within the entertainment industry.

From October to December, ten Chinese vernacular schools nationwide will host charity concerts featuring Malaysian artists Joey Leong, JieYing Tha, Pink Tan, Ribbon Ooi, Justin Ng, KahJun, Fuying & Sam, and Eric Lin.

Carlsberg Malaysia remains committed to its ambition as a thought leader and is dedicated to driving positive change in vernacular education, recognizing the pivotal role primary education plays in empowering communities and promoting sustainability.

This commitment aligns with its effort to contribute to the nation’s target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, fully embracing the principles of the company’s ‘Together Towards ZERO and Beyond’ agenda.
