KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Heart Foundation Transit Home (SOSHF-Home) is expected to commence operations this July.

Its President, Datuk Eva Susau, said that the transit home aims to alleviate the burden of patients, especially those coming from outside the Kota Kinabalu area.

“The transit home, located near the Sabah Women and Children’s Hospital (HWKKS), can accommodate approximately 20 residents at a time.

“It is hoped that with the establishment of this transit home, it can provide accommodation facilities for patients from outside Kota Kinabalu who come for treatment.

“For now, the home is still undergoing renovations to ensure it is comfortable to reside in, and we hope that more funds can be raised for this purpose,” she said when met by the media after a courtesy visit to the Governor, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, at the Istana Seri Kinabalu, on Wednesday.

Furthermore, Eva also informed that to date, the association has sent a total of 723 patients for heart surgeries since its establishment in 1981.

Earlier, Tun Juhar also received a courtesy visit from the Chairman of the Welfare Association of Former Members of Royal Malaysia Police Squad 69, Gastan Sabah, and delegation.

In addition to introducing the association, which has been established in Sabah since 2011, the visit also aimed to discuss various fundraising activities of the association.
